My tax-deductible donation is made to Pamplin Historical Park for deposit in a special account to be used exclusively
for the purchase and installation of a monument to the 6th Maryland Infantry Regiment. Pamplin Historical Park is a
private, non-profit organization dedicated to historic preservation and public education. The Secretary of the Interior
has recently designated Pamplin Historical Park as a National Historic Landmark.
The 6th Maryland Infantry Regiment monument will be erected on the “Breakthrough Battlefield” near the site within
the park where the 6th Maryland Volunteers spearheaded the successful Sixth Corps attack on the Confederate lines
in the early morning hours of April 2, 1865. The monument is designed to honor all soldiers who served honorably in
the 6th Maryland at any time during the war.
